Let us introduce you to Bod Efail Farm, based in Gwynedd, North Wales, owned by Gemaine Tedder-Pemberton.

"I am a retired Business Analyst and Project Manager and live on a smallholding on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales where we keep a small herd of goats and a few rescue chickens. I have a small business making personal care products such as; goats milk soaps, vegan friendly whipped soaps, shampoo and lotion bars. I have a passion for nature, and the outdoors and when I'm not making personal care products I am usually outside on the farm."

Tell us about your brand

"My brand is about locally made, made in Wales, with a hand crafted feel, small batch personal care products, made with high quality ingredients but available at reasonable prices so that everyone can enjoy them. I only use ingredients which are cruelty free, fully traceable, from reputable suppliers, many of whom are based in Wales."

"Some products are vegan and some are not, so there is something for everyone and all my products are cosmetically tested and approved. I spent a lot of time engaging with my customers and stockists developing relationships and listening to feedback to ensure customer satisfaction so that they return time and again. I see my brand as modern, inclusive and affordable."

What type of products do you sell?

"I sell a range of handmade personal care items such as; goats milk soaps and solid shampoo bars, fragranced whipped soaps, natural beard oils and solid lotion bars. My products are made with high quality carrier, essential and fragrance oils and many natural colours derived from clays, pigments, herbs and botanicals."

"All my products have been cosmetically tested and dermatologically approved, plus they are all cruelty free I do not test our products on animals. My focus is on producing beautiful, high quality products which not only fulfill their purpose but also look and smell great! As well as being affordable for everyone to enjoy."

Why did you start the brand?

"I started my business in September 2021. It originally started in May 2021 as a lockdown hobby during the pandemic and has grown from strength to strength. In 2021 I was also diagnosed with a long term health condition which meant that I had to give up my 20 year career as a Business Analyst. This life change combined with the pandemic gave me an opportunity to explore other creative paths."

"I discovered that not only do I love soap making but I love making products that people really enjoy using. In September 2021 I set up the brand Bod Efail Farm as I make the products right here on our farm in North Wales. We also produce and sell other types of products that we've grown on the farm so this gave me an opportunity to bring the different elements together under one business."
