Nothing beats good old soap and water for keeping your hands clean and bug free. But when you can’t get to the sink to scrub up, a hand sanitiser gel or spray can be super useful. And you can make your own version at home using ingredients that most households have.

For an hand sanitser to be effective, it needs to contain a minimum of 60% Isopropyl or ethanol alcohol. Follow the steps below to make your own hand sanitser.

🌱 Combine all the ingredients in a clean beaker and mix thoroughly until the gel is fully combined.

🌱 Transfer into a bottle with a flip top lid and label. You may need to give it a good shake to get all the gel to disperse.

🌱 Add a 20p sized amount of gel into your hands and massage thoroughly all over your hands until you can't feel it anymore.

🌱 Don't add water or wipe off.
