Here are some of the reasons we love sweet almond oil:
Sweet almond oil is a light, non-greasy oil that is easily absorbed into the skin, making it an ideal moisturiser. It’s incredibly gentle, and non-comedogenic so it won’t block your pores, making it suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It helps lock in moisture and keep skin soft and hydrated. It is also beneficial for soothing dry, itchy, and inflamed skin.
A natural antioxidant, sweet almond oil can help improve the texture of skin, softening and smoothing when used in daily skincare routines. You can use it on your face and body, both morning and night.
Top tip: apply almond oil to your damp skin after a warm shower to seal in moisture for extra hydrated skin.
Sweet almond oil is full of vitamins and minerals that can help nourish and strengthen hair. It helps to add shine to dull, dry hair and is said to promote hair growth. It’s lightweight consistency won’t weigh down your hair. Smoothing a couple of drops either before or after styling will calm any frizz and flyaways and boost shine and gloss.
Sweet almond oil can also be beneficial for scalp health. Regularly using almond oil on your scalp can help reduce flakiness and rehydrate dry skin - healthy scalp equals healthy hair growth.
Top tip: massage almond oil into your scalp, leave for a couple of hours and then wash and condition as usual for a healthy scalp.
Sweet almond oil is probably one of the most common oils used for massage due to its light texture and neutral scent. It has the optimal absorption speed, providing the perfect slip for you to perform an effective massage.
Its mild odour makes it a perfect carrier oil for essential oils, allowing you to benefit from the aromatherapy benefits and enjoy the powerful scents. It is also beneficial in helping to relax muscles and relieve tension.
Top tip: add 1ml of your favourite essential oils to 100ml of sweet almond to make your own massage blend.
Sweet almond oil features in many commercial nail and cuticle oils and for good reason. Fast absorbing but ultra nourishing and soothing, almond oil can help strengthen nails and soften cuticles, perfect for completing your manicures at home.
Top tip: massage a drop of almond into your nails and cuticles for healthy, strong nails.
Did you know almond oil is great for removing make up? Like lots of other plant and vegetable oils, almond oil can melt away make up, including stubborn mascara and eye liner. Using a gentle oil like almond is perfect for removing make without drying out the skin and causing irritation, great to include in a double cleansing routine.
Top tip: massage a generous amount of almond oil into your skin until your make up begins to melt away, then remove with a flannel or wash cloth soaked with warm water. Follow with your usual skincare routine steps.
