Personal Care Uses

Castile soap is so popular thanks to its versatility. It’s gentle enough to use in self-care products, but is still an effective cleaner. It makes an excellent alternative to commercial shampoo, it's strong enough to cleanse the hair but gentle enough that it doesn’t strip the oil from the hair or leave it dry. It can be used as a mild yet effective nourishing face and body cleanser. It’s gentle foaming action can remove make up and leave skin feeling super clean and fresh.

Body Wash

You can use Castile Soap like a normal body wash. Apply a small amount of soap to your hands or a wash cloth and wash as normal. Why not add a couple of drops of your favourite essential oils to make a beautiful scented body wash. Citrus oils are perfect for this for a lovely, zesty start to the day.

Shampoo

Apply a 20p sized amount of soap to wet hands and work into a lather onto wet hair. You may need more or less soap depending on the length of your hair. Rinse thoroughly and condition if required. Add a few drops of essential oils to the Castile soap to power up the benefits. Try Rosemary for its hair growth and strengthening properties.

Face Wash

Wet hands and add a 5p sized amount of soap to your hands or a damp wash cloth and work into a lather. Massage gently in a circular motion into damp skin for 30 seconds to a minute then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Pat dry and moisturise as normal.

Shaving

For legs, apply a 20p sized amount of soap into wet hands and work into a lather. Apply the soap onto your legs and shave as normal. If you want to add a moisturising agent, mix the soap with a couple of drops of Grapeseed or Sweet Almond Oil before applying to your skin to soften and moisturise at the same time as shaving.

Makeup Brushes

To wash and disinfect your make up brushes and sponges, wet the brush with clean water, add a drop or two of Castile Soap and work into a lather. Add a little more soap if required. Rinse thoroughly in clean water until the water runs clear. Squeeze out any excess water then gently dry with a clean towel. Leave the brushes to air dry and once dry they may need fluffing before they’re ready to use again.

Castile soap body scrub

Cleansing Body Scrub

Combine 2 tablespoons of sugar (any type of sugar you like), 20ml Castile Soap and 20ml of a carrier oil for your choice and 15-20 drops of your favourite essential oil and mix well. You can add a little more soap if you want a looser consistency. Massage the sugar scrub in a circular motion on your skin to gently exfoliate, cleanse and moisturise all at the same time. Rinse away for gloriously soft, nourished skin.

Household Uses

Multi-tasking Castile Soap has many uses around the house. It’s an eco-friendly way to reduce some of the harsh chemical cleaners you might normally use around the home. It is 100% biodegradable, environmentally friendly and incredibly easy to incorporate into your cleaning routine.

Hand Wash

Dilute with distilled water 1:1 and decant into a pump bottle. If you want to make it ultra moisturising, you can add a few drops of oil like Fractionated Coconut or Grapeseed Oil to the mix. Wash hands as normal.

Dish Soap

Add a squirt of soap to hot running water to fill up your washing up bowl and wash dishes as normal. You can add some germ busting essential oils like Tea Tree, Thyme or Rosemary to power up your washing up liquid. 

Castile soap floor cleaning

Floor Cleaner

Fill a mop bucket with hot water and add 50ml of Castile Soap. Mop floor as normal. You can add your favourite essential oils too.

Surface Cleaner

Dilute 20ml in distilled water and add to a spray bottle. Spritz the surface you want to clean, and wipe with a cloth.

Toilet Cleaner

Combine 50ml Castile Soap, 50ml distilled water, 2 tablespoons of Sodium Bicarbonate and 15 – 30 drops of essential oil and mix well. Tea Tree, Thyme, Oregano, Clove or Lemon are all good germ busting essential oils perfect for this type of cleaning job. Decant into a bottle then squeeze the solution all around the toilet bowl and scrub if required. You can leave the solution to sit over night if you want to for a super sparkling loo.

Plant Spray

You can make an easy pesticide free plant spray to keep bugs from destroying your plants in your home. Best of all, this budget plant spray will cause no harm to your plants and is safe to use in the home. Simply mix 2 tablespoons of soap with a litre of distilled water and decant into a spray bottle. Spritz the plants once a week to keep the bugs at bay.
