BENEFITS AND USES

FOR SKIN

Coconut Oil, like many other carrier oils, is a super emollient. It can soften and soothe skin leaving it feeling smooth and silky. Coconut oil is a highly effective moisturiser. It melts upon skin contact and skin soaks it up, delivering vital moisture to where you need it most. It supports skin barrier function by helping to reduce trans-epidermal water loss from the skin and locking in that essential moisture your skin needs to stay hydrated. It works well as a make-up remover, dissolving make-up and other dirt and grime from your face. Coconut oil has a comedogenicity rating of 4 which is pretty high on the pore blocking scale so those with oily, breakout prone skin may want to avoid using it on their face.

FOR HAIR

Coconut oil has amazing hair care benefits and is pretty well known for it. It is particularly good for curly and chemically treated hair. It’s conditioning and nourishing and helps revive dry damaged locks. It coats the hair strand with a layer of oil, smoothing and calming frizz and flyaways. It boosts shine helping hair look glossy and healthy. Dry and flaky skin on your can scalp can be super itchy and annoying. Coconut oil can help soothe a dry scalp and rehydrate the skin to alleviate the itching and flaking. Coconut oil coats the hair to protect from environmental factors like heat, sun and pollution. Just remember a little goes a long way and you only need a little bit of oil on your hair.

TIPS ON HOW TO USE

You can use Coconut Oil straight from the pot. Simply scoop out the required amount and allow it to soak into your skin. Try it as an alternative to traditional shaving oil, it helps the razor glide over your skin, reducing razor burn and moisturising skin as you shave. Add a small amount to a warm bath for a beautifully fragrant bath oil, leaving your skin feeling silky smooth. Melt a little oil in the microwave making sure it is not too hot, then apply to your hair for a nourishing hair mask.

DIY BEAUTY IDEAS

Coconut is an incredibly versatile ingredient in many skin and hair care applications. Try incorporating coconut oil into your homemade recipes. It works really well in body scrubs, lip scrubs, lip balms, body butters, scalp treatments, hot oil hair masks and so much more. If you want a product without the coconut aroma, then try our Organic Refined Coconut Oil, it retains all the same benefits as virgin coconut oil but it has been deodorised.
